Jeffrey leaving Onyx Neon Shorts
Hello Everyone,
this is Jeffrey P. Martin, I am writing to let you know that I am stepping down as head editor of Onyx Neon Shorts. For me, when I envisioned this project four years ago, I never would have dreamed we could have come so far. Publishing stories from all over the world, in individual and collection format, and including so many different kinds of authors, I couldn’t be prouder of the work we’ve done here. It was everything I wanted it to be and more.
However, I have another passion that draws at my heartstrings and that’s music. It’s the thing in my life that if I don’t pursue I will regret the most, and it’s the thing in my life that is currently taking back seat to this and many other projects.
I want to thank everyone who has taken this journey with me, and there are so many of you that I won’t even try because I’m sure I’ll forget someone and then feel like an ass hole. I also want to assure you that Shorts isn’t dead. Victoria Walls and Lindsay Martin are taking over, and as of right now all current projects on the docket, including the Horror Collection, are still happening. Expect delays, but they’re hitting the ground running.
Again, thank you for everything, and for always trusting me with your work. I wish you the best.
So long and thanks for all the fish.
Jeffrey P. Martin
Former Head Editor
Onyx Neon Shorts
The rejection letter you sent me last year concerning my short story “Beyond Where the Sky Ends” was one of the most conscientious and enlightening I’ve ever received. You took the time to explain that you enjoyed the story and it was in the running for some time, but ultimately there were other stories which were a better fit. I respected your professionalism and courtesy in taking the time to compose such a response and I will never forget it. Thank you for adding so much to the world of writing. You’ll be missed. Best of luck pursuing your passion!
