Books and e-books

I’d like to talk to you about books. Not just physical books that you’d find in your local indie bookstore, but digital editions as well. By the way, if you don’t happen to know where you local indie bookstore might be or haven’t stopped in recently, click here.

Whatever the format, the stuff inside has one desire: books want to be read. I’m proud to work in the book industry at Ingram Content Group, a comprehensive publishing industry services company that offers numerous solutions, including physical book distribution, print-on-demand and digital services. We are proud to serve indie book stores, large chains, international conglomerates and libraries.

As books roll off of our print-on-demand manufacturing lines, an object with a simple purpose is born: a book that desires only to be read. Thanks for being a reader and helping support readers, authors, publishers and even book distributors. It’s all interconnected and centered on a simple, fundamentally human, object: the book.

In future posts, I’ll discuss five things to consider in promoting a book:

  • Self publishing
  • Accurate and robust metadata
  • Know your audience
  • Offer discounts
  • Seek alternative channels
